Wayfarers
Wayfarers are unaligned witnesses.
They have no patron deity. They exist between domains and intervene proportionally to prevent cascading failure.
They do not fix worlds. They delay collapse long enough for the right consequence to arrive.
Origin
Their origin is not fully locked.
One promising account says Wayfarers descend from an early branch of humanity that did not follow ordinary human civilization into cities, shortcut magic, and accelerated consumption. If true, they carry a human root but took a different path.
The answer remains uncertain inside the world itself, and that uncertainty matters.
Role
Wayfarers observe imbalance and correct minor failures where correction is proportional. When a problem is too large to correct, they carry warning, memory, or witness forward.
Unlike ordinary elves, Wayfarers can approach anomalies such as the Wasteland.
Public naming note
A Wayfarer travels with The Young Traveler after his recovery. Public-facing lore calls her The Wayfarer, because the role matters before the name does.
